Headphones-A Technology Maniac

PHOTO HOSTING BY FACTS4YOUONLY.BLOGSPOT.COM

Technology is improving day by day, but the advancement is leaving many of us trapped in the comforts and luxuries, imposing multiple side effects on our health. One such technology affecting our health indirectly is the use of earphones and headphones. There are many people who use earphones without knowledge of the kind of health issues they could cause. People using earphones are actually placing their hearing at peril.

Earphones are very small gadgets, but there is a huge list of side effects using them and the list is increasing every day. We see many people walking around with earphones, including us. Earphones not only affect the user but also the surroundings. This is hard to believe, but it’s true.
The risks of using earphones
  • Hearing complications
While using earphones, the sound reaches the ears directly. This sound should not exceed 90 decibels.  Any volume above this threshold impacts hearing. Ideally, one should not use earphones continuously for more than 15 minutes. There is a threat of hearing loss beyond this point. So if at all you have to use earphones, then make sure that you are giving some rest to the ears in between.
  • Ear infections due to use of earphones
Do you have your personal earphones or do you share them with your family and friends? It is very common to share your earphones with others, but is this practice really safe? No, sharing earphones with others is definitely not safe as the bacteria from other’s ears travel to your ears and cause infections. So, next time make sure that you don’t share your earphones with anyone.
  • Blockage of air passage
There are many companies which manufacture earphones, making sure that the quality of the audio is clear and convenient for those who are using them. In order to get the best out of the earphones you will have to insert these earphones directly in the ear canals and this will result in blockage of air passage. This further results in ear infections, ear wax and finally even loss of hearing.
  • Side effects on brain
Earphones and headphones produce electromagnetic waves, proven to be dangerous for the human brain. However, there are no studies or evidences that can prove this point. But those who use earphones, blue-tooth and headphones on a daily basis are prone to problems related to brain.
  • Severe pain in the ears
Those who use earphones and headphones regularly tend to visit the doctor with a complaint of severe ear pain. You will feel some strange and different sounds buzzing in your ears. You also feel numbness in your ears. There are studies which have proved that excess use of earphones result in numbness and pain in the ears.
Precautions to be taken while using earphones:
After this article, you will definitely be scared of using earphones on regular basis. Then again, you will want to enjoy your favorite music and this is mandatory for some people as well.
For all those addicted to earplugs, below are few tips which help them to stay away from dangerous health hazards while still enjoying using their earphones.
  • Stop using stylish tiny earphones as they enter your ear canal directly. Use bigger headphones.
  • You should always have your personal earphones. Do not share them, not even with family members.
  • If your earphones have a rubber or sponge cover, then try changing them at least once in a month.
  • Do not play music with loud sound. Try to keep it as low as possible.
  • Avoid earphones when you are travelling as you will increase the volume due to the disturbing sounds around you and that proves harmful.
  • Try to give rest to your ears once every 15 minutes.
Gadget and technology enhancements should make your life entertaining and easy but not at the cost of your health. When you use them under limit, you can definitely get the best out of them. It is important to understand ‘how much is too much.’

Anyway according to David Kirkpatrick's The Facebook Effect , it turns out that that guy in the logo, created by Zuckerberg's friend and classmate Andrew McCollum, was none other than a young Al Pacino “covered with a fog of ones and zeros — the elementary components of digital media.” Crazy, right?

According to a new study by doctoral candidate Aryn Karpinski of Ohio State University and her co-author Adam Duberstein of Ohio Dominican University, college students who use the 800 million–member social network have significantly lower grade-point averages (GPAs) than those who do not.

The study, made in 2009, surveyed 219 undergraduate and graduate students and found that GPAs of Facebook users typically ranged a full grade point lower than those of nonusers — 3.0 to 3.5 for users versus 3.5 to 4.0 for their non-networking peers. It also found that 79% of Facebook members did not believe there was any link between their GPA and their networking habits.

Smartphone Can Do Things you Don't Even Know

10 Things You Didn’t Know Your Android Smartphone Could Do

Smartphones are extremely powerful computers or tools that can do a lot more than just your average apps, games, calls or features. You’ll be surprised to learn that your Android smartphone can actually do a lot of things you didn’t think were possible.
Taking videos in slow motion, scanning bar-codes, or even learning the name of a song with apps like Sound-hound are all neat tricks, but below and in less than five minutes we’ll show you 10 things you probably didn’t know your Android smartphone could do.
You won’t need to buy some crazy expensive accessories or hack the phone to do most of these fancy tricks, and instead they’re just neat things most owners don’t know about.
heart-620x4031
Almost everyone you know probably has a smartphone and uses things like the camera flash as a flashlight, voice search to ask questions and get navigation directs hands-free, and an array of other things. However, it’s the fun and more advanced stuff below that will surprise you.

Mobile Payments

Paying for gas, coffee, or fast food was made popular by Apple Pay, but this feature has actually been around for years with Google Wallet, and will get even better later this year with Android Pay. Using Google Wallet and NFC (the same system for all Apple Pay locations) you can use your Android smartphone to pay for goods.
Anywhere that wireless payments are allowed, or Apple Pay is accepted, you can use Google Wallet. Gas stations, hotels, Starbucks, grocery stores, fast food drive-up windows and more. Anywhere with an Apple Pay logo or the little mobile payments wave icon will work.

Users will need to download Google Wallet from the Google Play Store, then add a bank account or a credit card. You can also add gift cards, loyalty cards or points and more to Google Wallet. Then simply open Google wallet with a secure pin-code and tap the payment terminal with your phone to instantly pay for millions of items across the United States.

Become a Mobile Hotspot for WiFi

One feature that millions of users still don’t know about is using a phone as a WiFi hotspot, or sharing the connection from your phone to nearby devices. This is called tethering. Basically sharing the data connection with other devices, similar to how you use the WiFi at hotels or a nearby Starbucks. Essentially you can use that fast AT&T or Verizon 4G LTE network to act as the internet connection on your Laptop, home PC or tablet. This allows you to have internet on a non-connected device while out and about.

If you head to Settings > Tethering & Hotspot  (or settings > more) on almost any Android smartphone and enable the hotspot feature, your phone will share its connection with nearby devices. As a reminder many carriers charge extra for this, so double check before you start streaming movies to your laptop.

Charge Super Fast

If you’re in a pinch or short on time there are two ways to charge an Android smartphone fast. For one, most newer devices like the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Note 4, LG G4, HTC One M9 and many other devices have a feature called turbo charging. The actual name is Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, but it essentially allows you to get up to 8 hours of battery after 30 minutes on the charger.
Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 2.18.40 PM
Using a dedicated Turbo or Quick Charger wall plug, your device will rapidly charge up to 60% faster than devices from a few years ago, and get to 50% typically in less than 30 minutes. This is enough to last you the rest of a night out, or a busy evening at work.
However, a second thing that many don’t know about is Airplane mode. Turning on airplane mode on an Android smartphone basically turns off everything. No WiFi, no cellular connectivity, no internet, messages, nothing. It kills all the radios inside the phone. If you turn on Airplane mode while you charge, your smartphone will get full much quicker as the device isn’t using any battery while it’s being charged. It’s a simple trick that average people don’t know about, and my older family members and Uncle was amazed when he tried it himself.

Start Your Car

Home automation is a growing trend lately, and LG’s new G4 even has an app that can control select Samsung and LG air conditioning units. Nest comes to mind. Smartphones are also getting integrated into our cars and stereos, and can even start your car. Owners can even lock or unlock the doors from hundreds of miles away. Not to mention open the trunk or check vehicle status information.
Viper SmartStart is one of many that do this, but other car and alarm companies are also starting to offer this technology, not to mention car manufacturers themselves. Viper was one of the first, but now you can choose from multiple different alarm systems from popular manufacturers.

Use Your Phone as a Remote Control

Many different Android smartphone makers have started adding infrared sensors to the top of the device. This turns your phone into a remote that can control the TV, cable box, home theater volume and more. These work with apps like Peel remote, and LG has its own QRemote app. Most new Samsung Galaxy phones, the LG G3, LG G4, HTC One M9 and many more all have this capability.
LG G4 Remote
Once you open the app it does everything for you. Samsung’s Peel app, LG’s QRemote and others have all the device codes stored already. Just hit power and if it works, tap yes, and the app saves the information and you’re done.

Taking five minutes to go through setup and hitting power, volume, and other buttons will teach it all the codes and let you control every aspect of the living room.

Control Your Macbook on Android

Speaking of remote controls, you can use your Android smartphone or tablet to control your Macbook or even most Windows computers. The guide below is about controlling your Mac with an Android smartphone. I start movies, control the volume, open programs and more with it.

There are also multiple apps on the Google Play Store that will let you remotely control programs on a computer over WiFi with your smartphone. Everything from playing Steam Games on NVIDIA Shield, starting torrent downloads with uTorrent from remote locations, use Cox or cable company apps to set DVR’s to record and watch TV. The options are nearly endless and more arrive every week.

Tape Measure or Bubble Level

Have you ever needed to measure something while on the go and only had a smartphone? Or want to quickly level a picture frame to hang on the wall? Well we have that covered too. The Smart Tools
app has a measuring tool, or you can get the free measure tool app as well.
bubble-android
Bubble level apps are all over the Google Play Store, but getting one with multiple angles, level locks, and alerts once you’re level are the ones you want. My favorite one is called Bubble Level, or try out iHandy Level Free. These are a few simple apps you can use for lots of different projects.

Board Flights, Track Packages & More with Google Now

Last but certainly not least (and making our list more than 10) is Google Now and other apps from the search giant like Google Goggles. With Google Now you can instantly search for almost anything using your voice, and Google Now actually does a lot of different things. If enabled Google Now will search your Gmail for upcoming flights and give you alerts, driving times and estimated time of arrivals, pull up nearby hotels, and even let you board your flight with a barcode instead of printing a boarding pass.
flight-alternatives-stacked
Google Now will search through Gmail and find shipment tracking numbers and track them for you, show when they’ve been delivered, and an array of other things. Check out these Fun Google Now tips & tricks. You can even find your parked car with Google Now.
Everyone should download something called Google Goggles. It’s an old app but one that many don’t know about. Goggles will use your smartphone camera to scan millions of objects and do a Google search with the image. Find out about a bottle of wine, its rating, price and where to buy. Get information about the Eiffel Tower, or even scan a painting in an art gallery and give you information about it in seconds.
Screen-Shot-2014-03-10-at-1.16.17-PM-620x382
Google Goggles also doubles as a barcode and QR code scanner, not to mention can translate text from one language to another, which is extremely helpful if you’re traveling. Books, paintings, CDs, business cards and more can all be scanned, recognized, and saved for later. It’s quite powerful and useful all at the same time. Get it from the Google Play Store.

Haleji Lake is another asset. It is Asia’s greatest water fowl reserve. During winter, a hundred thousand birds fly down to Haleji from the cold of Siberia, making it the largest bird sanctuary of the continent.

10 Things You Should Know About Makkah

  1. Every year about 2 million Muslims travel to Al-Masjid Al-Haram, Islam's most sacred mosque, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where they perform a number of spiritual rites, in a process known as the Hajj.
  2. Performing the Hajj, is one of the five pillars of Islam, and all able-bodied Muslims should go at least once in their lives if they can afford it. Umrah, which is known as the 'lesser pilgrimage', is a journey to Mecca (Makkah) at any time in the year.
  3. The pilgrimage lasts for six days. It occurs during Dhu Al-Hijjah, the 12th month in the Muslim calendar. This year, the Hajj is expected to fall on October 1-6, but it is difficult to know in advance as it is based on lunar cycles.
  4. Mecca is thought to be the place where Ishmael and his mother Hagar were provided with a spring of water in the desert. As it is the most sacred place in Islam, non-Muslims are forbidden from entering.
The Kaaba is Islam's most sacred site
  5. The Kaaba, or 'the cube', is a black, box-shaped building at the centre of the mosque. It is built around a black stone, which many pilgrims try to kiss. Muslims believe the Kaaba was originally built by Abraham and Ishmael, but the site was re-dedicated by Muhammad and has been reconstructed since. When Muslims pray, wherever they are, they turn towards the Kaaba, and during the Hajj pilgrims walk anti-clockwise round it seven times.
  6. There are a number of other ritual acts during the Hajj, including 'the stoning of the devil'. Pilgrims travel to Mina, a small village about 5km from Mecca where throw pebbles at stone pillars which represent the devil.
  7. Both men and women dress in white during Hajj – a symbol of the state of purity they are entering. Changing their clothes is part of the process known as 'assuming Ihram', a sacred state that pilgrims adopt at the beginning of the Hajj. Pilgrims also refrain from wearing perfumes, men must not wear any sewn garments and women do not cover their faces.
  8. Pilgrims drink the water of the Zamzam well, located 20m east of the Kaaba, as it is thought to have special properties. The water is believed to come from the same source as the spring which provided water for Ishmael.
  9. The Eid Al-Adha is a feast marking the end of the pilgrimage. It is known as the feast of sacrifice, in remembrance of Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Ishmael, as the story is recorded in Islamic tradition.
  10. Many pilgrims stay in the thousands of white tents set up in the valley of Mina. Many suffer heat exhaustion in the 30-40˚C heat.

Cricket Conspiracy - Untold Story of a Never Happening War

Meeting of Rajeev Ganghi and Zia-ul-haq

History has always been full of surprises. At moment they are the most motivational assets to any Nation. So is in 1987 'Cricket Conspiracy'- a war on its way between two arch-rivals Pakistan and India. So important in regard to the Nuclear Warfare. But at the end Rajeev Gandhi was stumped by Gen Zia-ul-Haq.

General Zia-ul-Haq arrived in Delhi for cricket match as a spectator without any invitation. At that time Rajeev Gandhi was not ready to meet him at the airport. Indian troops were waiting for the PM’s orders on the Rajasthan sector to invade into Pakistani territory. In such situation it was improper to meet General Zia-ul-Haq. But opposition leaders and cabinet members were of the view that if arrived Pakistani leader has arrived in Delhi without any invitation (from here he had to departure for Chennai for cricket match), it will against diplomatic values not to meet him and will cause misunderstanding about Indian leadership on the international level. On our demand Rajeev Gandhi got ready to go to Delhi airport, he coldly shakes hands with General Zia-ul-Haq without making any eye contact. Rajeev said to his secretary, “General has to go to Chennai for cricket match, so accompany him and take care of him”. Bhagwan knows how strong was that man, in spite of insulting behaviour of Gandhi, Zia kept smiling.
Before departure for Chennai General Zia-ul-Haq while saying good bye to Gandhi said,
“Mr. Rajeev you want to attack Pakistan, do it. But keep in mind after this world will forget Hilaku Khan and Changez Khan and will remember only Zia-ul-Haq and Rajeev Gandhi. Because this will not be conventional war but nuclear war. Possibly whole Pakistan might be destroyed in this was but Muslims will be still there, however after destruction of India, Hinduism will be vanished”.
In spite of cold drops of perspiration were visible on Gandhi’s forehead. Everyone felt sensation in his backbone. These were only few moments when Zia-ul-Haq looked a dangerous man, his face was stern his eyes showed that he will do whatever he is saying no matter whole sub continent is burnt to ashes in nuclear war. Everyone was astonished, after warning, in the blink of eye Zia-ul-Haq brought his smile; he warmly shook hands with other hosts. Rajeev Gandhi was aware that Zia-ul-Haq looking very happy and in light mood has created trouble for Indian PM by threatening him of nuclear war.
